let’s get mad
So there’s this guy, Doug Feith. He worked in the Pentagon in 2003 and was a big part of not only making the Iraq War happen, but also the planning process that made it what it is today.
Watch him, and see if you aren’t left with the nearly irresistible desire to strangle somebody:
Tommy Franks, former head of CENTCOM and the guy that first ran the Iraq ground operations before resigning in 2003, called Feith (depending on where you read the quote) “the stupidest fucking guy on the face of the earth” or “the dumbest fucking guy on the planet.” High praise, to be sure, and hard to dispute based on that collection of quotes, but I’d always assumed that it was one of those hearsay moments, like Bush saying “why do people keep throwing the Constitution in my face, it’s just a piece of paper!” Nobody would ever go on record as having heard him say it, it’s just generally accepted that the statement was made. Same with Tommy, he probably said it, right? But how can we prove it? Well, it turns out he didn’t just say it, he wrote it. In his book.
